ASCIA Anaphylaxis course development
ASCIA anaphylaxis e-training courses for schools and children's education/care (cec), and first aid (community) have been developed by the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA), the peak professional body in Australasia for allergy and clinical immunology.
These courses were first developed by ASCIA in 2010, to provide ready access to reliable and consistent anaphylaxis education throughout Australia and New Zealand, at no charge.
Development and regular updating of ASCIA anaphylaxis e-training requires extensive review and consultation with ASCIA members as well as representatives from schools, children's education and care services, education departments, health departments and patient support organisations throughout Australasia.
Accreditation for Children’s Education/Care (CEC)
ASCIA anaphylaxis e-training for Children’s Education/Care (CEC) is a nationally approved qualification by the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) for anaphylaxis management training under the National Quality Framework (NQF).
All courses have a Certificate of Completion
ASCIA is not an accrediting body so the certificate supplied at the successful completion of courses is proof of completion only for the ASCIA anaphylaxis training (except for the CEC course as detailed above).
The certificate does not constitute a qualification and no reference should be made of being endorsed or certified by ASCIA. The certificate is valid from the date the course was completed until the applicable regional body requires the training to be repeated.
It would seem reasonable to repeat training at least every two years. You should check your region's guidelines/legislation to meet the training requirements.
